Preparing your trip to Koblenz: advices & hints - things to do and to obey
1. Tourists are advised to go shopping only with national currency, the other won’t be accepted in shops and markets or would be changed at a very disadvantageous exchange rate. In the markets bargaining is assumed, but slowing down the price by a substantial amount is unlikely - the discount will be no more than 10%.
2. Banks and other government agencies are working on weekdays, from 8:00 - 8:30 am to 5:00 – 6:00 pm. During the day, small lunch break is possible. Some large banks can operate on Saturdays, but the time will be reduced significantly.
3. Almost all major shopping centers, restaurants and hotels accept service payment with credit cards. They deal with cards of international standard. Large amounts of cash are necessary to those only, who hope to make purchases in markets or in small retail pavilions.
4. You can exchange money not only in banks and private exchange offices, but also in the department of the General Post Office. It operates seven days a week and around the clock, but the exchange rate at the post office is not the most profitable.
6. There are lots of car rental points in the city; for paperwork customers will need a copy of the passport, a world-class driving license and a credit card with the desired amount of deposit in the account.
7. The most common type of telephone service for travelers are special phone booths located near shopping centers and government agencies. They accept plastic cards that are sold at all post offices, bars and newsagents.
8. Mains voltage is 220 V, all hotels are equipped with standard European socket. Before the trip, be sure to check for compatibility of all electrical appliances and chargers that you plan to take.
9. In restaurants and cafes tipping is required, 10% of the order would be sufficient. A small cash reward will also be appropriate to leave for the maid at the hotel and for the taxi driver.
