Once this city was a residence of Heinrich der Löwe. Today Braunschweig is a large cultural and economic center in the south-east of Germany. Burgplatz Square is known as the center of the city. It was founded yet in the medieval times. Anton Ulrich museum is one of most amazing places of culture. It is named after its founder – the noble Herzog who founded his private museum in 1754. Herzog had a well-known collection of armory and pieces of art. First 100 years after the foundation of the museum the collection was displayed only for a narrow group of people. The official opening of the museum took place only in 1865. Nowadays the museum displays luxurious collection of furniture, centuries-old paintings and collector’s armory as well as precious interior decorations.
