Sightseeing in Binz - what to see. Complete travel guide

Who created this resort paradise and when did this happen? First mentions of Binz date back to 1318 when a small settlement appeared in the County of Streu. Five centuries later, the settlement became famous as a resort town. The first guests arrived in 1860 and stayed at a local guesthouse. Ten years later, the new resort could accommodate already 80 guests. Year after year, Binz was growing in size. The town’s authorities built the first hotel in 1876. It was located close to the coast.
Start your acquaintance with landmarks of the sea resort from the Granitz Hunting Lodge. This is a beautiful and unusual castle built in the mid-18th century. Just like many other castles in northern Germany, this building is a marvelous example of Renaissance style. Two hundred thousands of tourists visit this place of interest in order to step into the castle and get to the top of the central tower. The latter offers a mesmerizing view of the surroundings. It looks like the whole area is at your feet.

Are you craving for peace and serenity? In this case, you need to head to Park der Sinne that is popular with both locals and guests of the resort. This is a truly fantastic area that is perfect for a leisure stroll in the shade of old trees. Starting from the moment when you enter the park, you will feel the charming and cozy atmosphere of this place. It is so easy to forget about all the troubles and stressful city life here. While enjoying a walk on a parkway, you will smell the scent of blooming flowers – there are always many different species of them in the park.

Consider visiting the museum of natural history during your stay in Binz. This venue is located in a gorgeous forest area. The unusual location makes a visit to this museum even more exciting. The venue has a viewing platform that offers spectacular views of the surrounding area. Moreover, it is a fantastic place to admire the beauty of the Baltic Sea and take memorable photographs. All visitors can use binoculars in order to see the surrounding area in detail.

For tourists from many countries, it may be more comfortable to travel to Hamburg first and then take a train or bus to Binz. If you travel by bus, the ride will be approximately three and a half hours. A train ride will be a bit longer – four hours. It is also possible to fly to Rostock-Laage airport that is located 120 kilometers from Binz. There are also alternative ways to reach the resort town. A train from Stralsund will take you to the destination faster than in two hours, and a ride from Sassnitz will be even shorter – only fifty minutes.
