Marktkirche, Hannover

» The Marktkirche is an old Lutheran church in Hanover that is still functioning. It was built on the foundation of St. George church that was mentioned in 1238. The new church was consecrated after St. George and St. James in 1360.
»  In 1943, the church was seriously damaged during the bombing. It started to be refurbished right after the war. The original exterior of the building has been preserved. Only the bronze gate and the facade were restored and decorated with Gerhard Marcks’ pictures depicting tragic scenes of the war.
»  You can also see the oldest artifact that has survived since 1480, an altar. The chapel of this old church has 11 bells. The biggest bell weighs 10 tons. The oldest one was made in 1650.
»  Around the church, there are old graves of eminent citizens of the 16th-18th century.
»  Since the middle of the 19th century, Christmas fairs have held near the Marktkirche. It has become a tradition. This city attraction is annually visited by 1.5 million tourists.

Neustadter Kirche, Hannover

» The Neustädter Kirche was built in 1670 in the new town at the site of St. Gall Chapel (the 13th century). The walls of the church include some fragments of the destroyed chapel.
»  Many years ago, people were buried right in the church, so its floor was covered with tombstones. In 1902, all the tombstones were taken outside.
»  Only the most famous burials were left. One of them is the grave of Gottfried Leibniz (1716). The great mathematician had lived in Hanover for 40 years.
»  During the Second World War, the building was damaged. After the reconstruction, its interior has become more modest.
»  Nowadays, the church is famous for the choir of St. Johannis that often gives church and organ concerts. A Spanish baroque organ placed in the church is exclusive.

Christuskirche, Hannover

» The last ruler of Hanover George V ordered to build a summer residence for his wife’s birthday on a hilltop in the northern district of the city.
»  Christuskirche was constructed here by the project of architect Wilhelm Hase. It is designed in the New Gothic style. It features classic elements, such as high columns, massive vaults, and high spires.
»  The building was built of red plastered bricks and stones. The walls are decorated with bas-reliefs.
»  The impressive tower is 70 m high. It is an exterior supplement to the church. The construction was completed in 1864.
»  Today, you can enter the church from the side. Here, you will feel like you are in a concert hall. At the Evangelical Church, there is a girl’s choir.
»  The medieval interior has been preserved to this day. Old benches were moved to a temple in Grodno. The church is quite spacious. Its space is divided by huge cylinder columns.
»  Big lancet windows transmit much light. The good lighting of the temple creates a sense of airiness and levitation.
»  This church is a cultural site and one of the memorable places of the city.

Wilhelm Busch Museum, Hannover

» The Wilhelm Busch Museum was founded by the Society of Artists in 1930. It is located in the Georgenpalais that belonged to King George III before.
»  The museum houses paintings of Wilhelm Busch (1832-1908). He was famous for satirical sketches in the form of cautionary tales. A series of comics named “Max and Moritz” was created in 1865.
»  Busch’s satirical couplets have become popular proverbs.
»  The museum has acquired masterpieces of famous cartoonists: Honore Daumier, James Gillray, Francisco de Goya, Thomas Theodor Heine, and William Hogarth.
»  The museum collection is constantly updated. Not so long ago, 700 cartoons of Napoleon were purchased.
»  Workers of the museum regularly hold temporary exhibitions where visitors can see works of modern cartoonists and fashion designers.

Facts: » The Telemax is a TV tower built in 1992. Architect Hans Böckler designed an extraordinary construction that differs from towers with round walls with square surfaces.
»  In 1997, it received a special award.
»  The tower is 272 m high. Its foundation is 16 m beneath the ground.
»  There is no observation platform on the tower. To reach its top, you need to go up a thousand steps.
»  Today, the Telemax is a symbol of the city. It is better to admire the tower in the evenings when it is illuminated with colorful lights.

Preferred to Open 9 New Hotels in 2022
