8. There is no problem with understanding English because Kavala is a tourist city. Locals talk Greek to each other and sometimes can forget that there is a foreigner present among them. However, they switch to English once they remember about this.

9. The majority of organizations (shops, restaurants, cafes) close for siesta that can last from 13:00 to 17:00. The siesta break happens only during hot months. In colder months, there is no need for such a break. Banks usually work from 8:30 to 14:00.
