IHG Debuts With Its Premium Brand Voco in South Korea
IHG continues its ambitious expansion plans despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic and announces the first voco hotel in South Korea. This will be the debut of the luxury hotel brand in this country. The urban resort hotel in Pyeongtaek City will have 208 rooms and is set to open in 2023. This is going to be the first upscale hotel opened by an international company in Gyeonggi-do province.
The hotel, which is currently under construction, will be an important addition to the voco brand. This prestigious hotel brand is quite new it was established only in 2018 but this fact didn’t prevent it from getting 50 signed or open hotels in 20 countries across the world. The first voco hotel in South Korea will expand IHG’s portfolio that already includes 9 hotels in this country. The hotelier’s team considers South Korea an important market and is looking into more city and resort locations. For the hotel in Pyeongtaek, IHG partnered with Seraphim Development. There is strong demand for contemporary and luxury brands in South Korea, so voco is a worthy addition in the opinion of IHG.
Guests will feel the signature comfort and style of the voco brand right from the moment they enter the hotel. The hotel in Pyeongtaek City will offer such signature services as fast check-in and a welcome local gift. When finished, the hotel will have the only 360-degree rooftop pool with a panoramic view of the Ansung River. The new hotel will also have a large fitness center, a restaurant, a bar, and a lounge area.
Due to its unique location, the hotel will be appealing to both international and domestic travelers. As Pyeongtaek City is conveniently located near one of the main ports of the Korean Peninsula, it is easy to reach it by sea. Those who prefer traveling by land, can always take a train or rent a car and reach the city. The voco hotel will be a part of International Market Place, a large mixed-use development. As Pyeongtaek Special Tourism Area and Naeri Cultural Park are located nearby, IHG hopes that there will be a steady flow of both business and leisure guests.
At the moment, IHG has 15 voco hotels operating or under construction in the Asia Pacific. Among them, there are two hotels in Australia (Hunter Valley and the Gold Coast), a hotel in Hangzhou (China), and other hotels in Vietnam, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, and other locations.
