Very interesting tradition is held in Agropoli before New Year - to wear red lingerie. Therefore, on New Year's days, all the shop windows are full of red things, so you can also purchase some red item and participate in this tradition. The biggest attention Agropoleans pay to festive dinner. At the Christmas table, you can find pork legs, sausages, baked fish, and seafood. Grapes play a special role during the celebration: by custom, you need to prepare 12 grapes, and with each stroke of the clock to eat one by one. The one who can eat the last grapes in the first second of the New Year, the whole year will be accompanied by luck.
Carnival of Agropoli is the brightest event held in February. Every year, for a few days, the city plunges into an atmosphere of extravaganza and general fun. On the streets, you will see locals in bright outfits and costumes; everyone has a unique chance this unusual procession. During the holiday, besides the parades, you can enjoy some time on fun musical and theatrical performances. Open cafes of Agropoli invite tourists and residents to try unusual sweets, traditional desserts, and interesting national dishes. On February 7-9, Agropoleans organize the parades of floats. The celebration is held along the main streets, where you will enjoy fascinating figures from the papier mache created by local masters. The parade starts from Via Salvo D'acquisto, Via Pio X, and finishes in Piazza della Repubblica.
