The Arco Naturale is a natural arch on the east coast of the Island of Capri. It is one of the most remarkable natural arches of Italy. The Arco Naturale is a unique rock formation dating from the Paleolithic times. Millions of years ago a great grotto was here. The arch is located at the height of 200 meters above sea level. Millions of years ago this land was deep under the water. Numerous landslides and earthquakes led to the fact that the huge grotto was partially destroyed and was on the surface.
The arch has impressive dimensions, its height is about 18 meters, and the width is about 12 meters. It has constantly been formed by the influence of water, wind and sun rays. Today it is incredibly harmonious and beautiful natural object. The eastern coast of the island of Capri is visited not only by curious tourists, but also by professional photographers who strive to make spectaculat pictures of the coast in these places.
Guests of the picturesque Italian island can easily and quickly reach the natural sights. The stretch of the coast with the arch is located half an hour’s walk from the Via Matermania road. Near the arch there are many interesting places for walks. Here you can see rare plant species, frightening rocky cliffs and coastal landscapes of fabulous beauty.
