Step inside the cathedral to see its marvelous inner décor. Besides, the cathedral keeps one of the most valuable religious artifacts in the region - the Apostle Saint Andrew relics. During your visit to the shrine, you can admire fabulous mosaics and stained-glass windows, take a look at old sculptures and icons, and see elements of the artistic design in detail. A small thematic museum occupies a part of the cathedral. It exhibits a collection of antique religious artifacts. Perhaps, Museo della Carta is the most unusual cultural center in Amalfi. A local family established it – they decided to turn the old paper factory into an interesting thematic museum. Today, everyone can learn how the paper was manufactured in the region many years ago. Of course, samples of different paper types that were manufactured here are also present in the exhibition. In the past, the paper was produced from cotton and linen, so an excursion in this museum promises to be exciting. One more interesting museum is open in the building of the old town hall. This is Museo Civico dedicated to the history and culture of the region. The collection of this museum is diverse – the establishment exhibits archaeological findings and precious items that date back to the Middle Ages. A collection of old paintings is incredibly interesting too. Moreover, you can see a unique collection of jewelry that dates back to prehistoric times in the museum. An old nautical codex is one of the most important exhibits in Museo Civico. Three hundred years ago, the entire Mediterranean region was following the rules in this codex.
Another interesting museum, Chiostro del Paradiso is open in a luxurious 13th-century villa. Initially, the fabulous building in the Moorish style was the crypt for the rich and noble residents of Amalfi. Chiostro del Paradiso has been turned into a museum not many years ago.
