1. The most favorable time for the trip is from May to September, as it’s warm and sunny. In winter the temperature rarely drops below zero, but sightseeing may be difficult because of rains.
2. The most comfortable way to travel around the city is subway, but some stations are located at a considerable distance from landmarks and recreational facilities. Among other modes of public transport buses and trams are available.
3. There is a single ticket for all public transport; it costs 1.4 euros. Ticket for 24 hours would cost 4 euros, and a special ‘book’ with ten tickets - 11 euros. You can buy all kinds of tickets in special automatic stands, which are at each stop, or directly in a bus or tram.
4. A popular form of public transportation is bicycle; it would let you to travel freely throughout the territory of Lille. You can take a two-wheeled vehicle in one of the many rental agencies. Vélopole is considered the most popular of them. The longer is the term of rent, the lower the daily fee would be.
6. Visitors of local restaurants and cafes have to consider that a separate tip to the waiter is a sign of courtesy. Tip amount can range from 7 to 15% of the order and depends on the status of the dining place.
7. Fans of outdoor recreation have to remember that they can’t kindle fires at the very first place in local parks and gardens. Leaving litter in the wrong place is also prohibited. To arrange a picnic special areas are designed. For rules violation large monetary fines are collected.
