La Palma is considered one of the most colorful Canary Islands. Travelers are attracted here not only by wonderful beaches but also by its special authentic atmosphere. Interesting features can be seen literally at every step - even ordinary houses on the island are unique sites. Some of them are a few hundred years old, such durable houses were once built from fossilized lava without any additional binders. The thickness of the walls in the old buildings can reach 1 meter, it is surprising that even now people continue to live in such unusual houses. It is noteworthy that the petrified lava is now one of the main values of the island. The beautiful carnival is dedicated to such an important historical event. Absolutely everyone can take part in solemn processions going through the city streets. Locals dress up in wealthy emigrants so elements of their costumes may seem quite unusual. Old suitcases, cages with exotic birds, banknotes sticking out of the hat — here everyone is trying to imitate a happy rich emigrant in all possible ways.
