Porto Cervo is one of the most popular resorts in Italy. This is an upscale resort that is popular with celebrities and millionaires, so the prices are quite high here. There many boutiques of the most famous luxury brands in the town. Porto Cervo is the main settlement of Costa Smeralda in Sardinia. The resort is primarily famous for its spectacular and comfortable marina. Every year, Porto Cervo hosts regattas that bring together masters of sailing from different European countries. The iconic green water of Costa Smeralda is a magnet for upscale tourists from all over the world. Tourists visit Porto Cervo to enjoy premium entertainment and recreation.
Historians still haven’t reached an agreement regarding the foundation date of Porto Cervo. According to the information provided by local people, there was a small village on the site of the modern resort. Local people were mostly fishermen. The settlement consisted of only several houses. Almost no one knew about this settlement until Lebanese Prince Karim Aga Khan had to stop near the coast of Porto Cervo because his yacht needed repairing. This event happened in 1961. The prince and his crew reached the village in order to find help. When walking among the houses, the prince was so impressed by the natural beauty of this place that he decided to buy this land.
Having acquired a plot of the Italian land, Karim Aga Khan decided to create a silent and harmonious seaside resort. To make his dream come true, the prince invited the most famous designers, best architects, and building teams. All works were strictly monitored by a team of ecologists because the primary aim of Karim Aga Khan was to preserve the beautiful nature of the area. Several years later, a new town called Porto Cervo appeared on the map of Sardinia. Porto Cervo is the major destination of Costa Smeralda or the Emerald Coast. This name once again underlines the beauty of this region. The prince built a luxury villa for himself in Porto Cervo. Copyright www.orangesmile.com
Porto Cervo is well-known for its exquisite beaches. The coastal water has an amazing emerald shade that shines brightly in the sunrays. Liscia RujaBeach is one of the most popular choices when it comes to sunbathing and swimming in Porto Cervo. This is the longest beach on the southern side of Costa Smeralda. When visiting this tranquil place, it is so easy to forget about everything and indulge oneself in the atmosphere of serenity and peace. The beach is covered with white sand that looks like sugar powder. This is a true paradise place with the ever calm sea. The water is shallow near the coast, so parents with small children will find it very comfortable to spend their free time here.
Romazzino Beach is another coastal area perfectly suitable for trouble-free recreation. This beach is located in a bay, and so it is safely protected from the strong winds. A calm and peaceful atmosphere reigns in Romazzino. The local hotel has swimming pools, playgrounds, and regularly organizes different entertaining activities for children. Are you in the mood for water-based entertainment? In Romazzino, vacationers are welcome to try scuba diving and explore the diverse underwater world of the region or take a mesmerizing canoe ride. Tourists can always rent snorkeling equipment or participate in adventurous yacht regattas. The waves are usually small here, so the beach is suitable for recreation at any time.
Church Stella Maris is, perhaps, the most unusual building in Porto Cervo. The shrine is a white building, the design of which is reminiscent of the works of the famous architect Gaudi. The church has an original rounded shape that looks very elegant. The name of the church – Stella Maris – can be translated as “the sea star”. The construction of the religious landmark started in 1968 and lasted almost twelve months. The designers took into consideration absolutely all rules of the Mediterranean architectural style. Church Stella Maris was consecrated in 1969.
Nowadays, all guests of the resort are welcome to attend this spectacular white building with rounded elements. Forged iron treillage and red-tiled roof decorate the unusual building. There are two sculptures near the entrance to the church. These are the sculptures of Saint Josef and Pope John Paul II. The church exhibits a famous painting by El Greco, and the bronze doors feature an image of the Annunciation. A Neapolitan pipe organ is the main treasure in Church Stella Maris. When tourists approach the building, they see white pigeons that live here and meet guests like bringers of the good tidings.
It is impossible to reach Porto Cervo by airplane. Initially, tourists need to get to one of the nearby cities, for example, to Olbia. The distance from Olbia to Porto Cervo is only twenty-three kilometers. There is an affordable way to reach Porto Cervo – by bus. There is one bus a day to the resort. As a rule, vacationers rent cars or reach the resort in their yachts. This is understandable because most guests are rich and famous. Finally, tourists can order a taxi transfer from Olbia airport to Porto Cervo. The ride will be only half an hour.

Although the staircase was built several centuries ago without using any special equipment and technology, it has a number of unique features. The design of the staircase is such that during lifting it, a feeling of "falling up" is created. The rock, in which the stone steps were cut, is directly above the sea, so travellers always have an opportunity to admire marvelous seascapes during the ascent. … Read further
