Preparing your trip to Murcia: advices & hints - things to do and to obey
1. Hotel services, shopping and dinners at restaurants should better be paid in national currency. Currency can be exchanged in one of the local banks. The most profitable exchange rate is offered in banks having a sign “cajas de ahorro”. One should avoid currency exchange offices located on the premises of the hotels and tourist information centers.
2. Banks and other governmental institutions start serving the customers at 8.30 and work till 14. 30. A usual day off is Sunday. During summer period some institution are closed on Saturdays as well.
3. Tourists looking for visiting local restaurants should keep in mind that supper is served not earlier than 20.30. Tips are a must in all easting places. Even if the service fee is included into the total bill, one should add 5 – 7% to the sum.
4. A significant part of museums, galleries and exhibition centers are closed on Mondays. Tourist centers provide information on schedules and costs of tickets for all the events. Many excursions should be visited in groups, as in this case one will get a more profitable entrance ticket cost.
6. Each Saturday Murcia offers a free sightseeing tour which runs through the most significant landmarks of the destination. All travelers wishing to join the tour should visit a tourist information center located on the Cardinal Belluga square (Plaza Cardenal Belluga). A participation in the tour should be necessarily reserved in advance.
7. The hottest months of the year are July and August. During this period day temperature may reach 40C. Tourists looking for numerous tours, excursions and hiking should better visit the city of Murcia in off-season period.
8. The city is convenient to cruise by underground however underground routes lead far not to all local landmarks. The system of public transport also offers a branched bus network. The buses cruise the city from early morning till late night.

9. Tourists wishing to get wine as a memorable gift are highly recommended to visit local wineries. Each winery premises feature a wine store presenting all sorts of wines at most attractive prices.
