Thailand Offers Golf Quarantine for Foreign Tourists
Do you want to enjoy an overseas vacation but the risk of a long quarantine drives you off? The government of Thailand has come up with a very interesting proposal for foreign guests. Instead of booking a hotel in Pattaya or Koh Samui, check the following list of the government-approved golf resorts where foreign tourists can have golf quarantine instead of the traditional self-isolation at a hotel.
The list containing six hotels was officially approved in December 2020. To get into this list, golf resorts had to undergo a series of strict checkups and become certified. For tourists, this is another proof of safety and a careful approach to details. Three of the six eligible golf resorts are located in Kanchanaburi. With more than 800 acres of premium golf courses, Mida Golf Club is one of the most attractive offers. Room types of different classes, a swimming pool, a driving range, and practice areas for beginners and advanced golfers make Mida a great golf gateway destination.
Evergreen Hills Golf Club and hotel in Kanchanaburi offers 97 guestrooms, a tennis court, a swimming pool, a driving range, a clubhouse, a restaurant, and other facilities. Finally, the third hotel in this region, Blue Star Golf Course, has a 72-par course with a total area of 7,000 yards. Besides this, the resort has numerous practice areas, a driving range, and a clubhouse.
The next resort on the list is located in Nakhon Nayok. Artitaya Golf & Resort Nakhon Nayok has a hotel, restaurant, clubhouse, and a sophisticated 18-hole golf course. A popular resort and hotel in Chiang Mai, Artitaya Chiang Mai Golf & Resort also features an 18-hole course with a total area of 7,329 yards. There are a restaurant and a clubhouse on site. Finally, Sawang Resort in Phetchaburi has a golf course of international level, a swimming pool, sports gear shop, restaurant, and a driving range.
By choosing one of these six hotels, foreign tourists can play golf and move around the resort as soon as they reach it, skipping the mandatory two-week quarantine. This is much better than self-isolating in a hotel room. Of course, tourists wishing to visit Thailand need to have a tourist visa (a single-entry TR or a special STV visa), a certificate of entry, medical and travel insurance. Less crowded than usual and offering special golf packages at discounted prices, Thailand might turn into a golfers’ paradise this year.
