Málaga, a port city in Andalusia, is a part of Costa del Sol of the Mediterranean. The climate of Málaga is mild, the average annual temperature is about 19°C. The mountains and warm Mediterranean coastline make the weather temperate throughout the year. The city was founded by Phoenicians circa 1000 BCE, and came under control of the Greeks, Carthaginians, Visigoths, Arabs and Christians.
Today Málaga is a tourist city.
Most popular tourist places are the birthplace of Pablo Picasso, Cathedral of the Encarnation, Palacio Episcopal, Iglesia del Sagrario, Iglesia Parroquial de Santiago, Malaga Walls, the Alcazaba fortress, Flavian Roman Theater, Museo de Artes y Tradiciones Populares. A popular walk leads to the Gibralfaro Castle offering wonderful views of the city.
Málaga is also the name of Andalusia province which includes the city of Málaga (the capital) and municipalities Marbella, Antequerra and Ronda.
