Zadar Among the attractions of Zadar you will find beautiful historical sites, unique architectural complexes, as well as a large number of original objects, the like of which simply cannot be found in any other city of the country. Among these facilities we simply cannot fail to mention Morske orgulje. This is an interesting structure with numerous huge steps made of massive stone blocks. Both citizens and guests of the city enjoy relaxing on these massive steps, which are often used as benches. The complex is unique because of one fact - thanks to the particular design wind creates special sound waves that resemble the sound of an organ.

St. Anastasia Cathedral is a striking religious monument. The construction of the church made in the Romanesque style was completed in the 12th century. Right after the opening in the cathedral has become home to an important religious artifact - the relics of St. Anastasia. The priceless relic is still kept in the cathedral, and every year thousands of pilgrims come there to bow to the artifact. The center of the city is the location of Narodni trg, which is surrounded by buildings of different epochs. All most important social events, festivals and fairs take place in this square.
The building of the city hall is the most interesting architectural monument located near the square. Ancient city gates remain the permanent symbol of Zadar. The gates were built in 1543. Their appearance resembles a graceful triumphal arch, and the gates are decorated with two important symbols - the emblem of Zadar and a winged lion. Roman Forum is a very popular destination for excursions among tourists. Several years ago large-scale excavations took place on the site of the forum. Copyright www.orangesmile.com
Archaeologists managed to discover fragments of a triumphal arch and street paving, as well as a 14-meter pillar, which has miraculously survived since the Roman Empire. Other sights of the city worth mentioning include St. Donat Church. This is a beautiful building made in the Byzantine style, which was built back in the 9th century. According to one theory a part of an ancient Roman building was used as a foundation of the church. A part of the church was converted into a museum which exhibits a collection of metal items made by best masters of Dalmatia. The church of St. Mary is also an important architectural object. The church was built in the 11th century. The bell tower is the only structure that has survived from the very first building. All other elements of the church were reconstructed several times and changed their shape significantly during centuries.
