Croatian island of Ciovo located in Adriatic Sea is isolated from the mainland by narrow strait. It’s only 30 square kilometers; the land is inhabited with about five thousands of citizens. From tourists' point of view Ciovo is, first of all, an excursions center. Most of landmarks are concentrated in historical area of Trogir town, but there are interesting historical landmarks all across the island. Along with sight-seeing, the island offers its guests excellent leisure opportunities. There are attractive beaches and scenic national reserves on the island.

The historical part of Trogir is an excellent starting point. It’s an infinite stream of beautiful old palaces, temples and other facilities built centuries ago. This tiny area hosts architectural landmarks of very different styles forming harmonious assembly.

The biggest building is the The St. Lawrence Cathedral. Its construction began in 13th century, but was finished only 300 years later. Lots of historical landmarks are situated outside of Trogir. St. Dominic Monastery located next to the town was founded back in 15th century; it retains its rich traditions even nowadays. Monastery of the Virgin Mary in Prizidnica is a religious landmark of later times. It was founded in the middle of 16th century. The monastery and its ancient church saving a number of priceless religious artifacts are attended by thousands of pilgrims from all over the world every year. Nature lovers will appreciate pine forests and olive groves around Ciovo.

The island has fantastic conditions for beachside recreation and entertainment. The coastline is a sequence of tiny charming beaches and bays. Beaches with fine pebble surface are particularly popular with family tourists. Water near these beaches is mostly shallow, so these areas are safe for vacationers with kids. Vela Draga and Mala Draga beaches are, without a doubt, the most famous and popular at the resort. These beaches are covered with soft white pebbles. Trees grow close to the coastline, so it is comfortable to stay there all day long. There are beautiful pine groves not far away from these beaches, so it is simple to combine relaxation at the seaside with an exploration of the picturesque nature of the region.
