IHG Will Debut With its Kimpton Hotel Brand in Hungary
IHG is bringing Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants, the company’s boutique luxury brand, to Hungary. Here, IHG will open the first Kimpton hotel in Budapest. Set to greet its first guests at the start of 2025, the new hotel will be operating under a management agreement with MAM BUDA PROJECT Kft., the owner of the building.
As expected from a luxury property, the first Kimpton hotel in Budapest will be located in the central part of the city, on Jozsef Bem Square, a fabulous place on the Buda part of the Danube River. The hotel will have 127 spacious guest rooms featuring ergonomic design and premium amenities. The signature feature of the Kimpton brand a rooftop bar will be also present on site. This will be a fabulous place to relax and admire the city views.
The popularity of Budapest as a travel destination was skyrocketing during the pre-pandemic times. This is a beautiful city with UNESCO heritage sites, interesting landmarks, and good food. Budapest also has growing importance as a local business hub. Since luxury boutique hotels have been trendy in the last decade, Kimpton continues its successful expansion in Europe, covering more key destinations in the region.
The first Kimpton hotel in Europe opened in 2017. This was the Kimpton De Witt hotel in Amsterdam. After a successful debut, IHG quickly expanded its luxury European portfolio, adding Kimpton hotels in Paris, London, Barcelona, Edinburgh, and other popular cities. At the moment, IHG operates seven hotels in Europe by this boutique brand. Additional four hotels are in pipeline, including hotels in Frankfurt and Mallorca. This is a clear sign of the growing demand for luxury lifestyle hotels. The Kimpton brand is actively taking over around the world. Currently, there are 75 Kimpton hotels globally and another 32 hotels are under construction.
Although Kimpton hotel in Budapest will be the debut property in the country, IHG already has a presence in Hungary, including Crowne Plaza Budapest, the most recent opening of the famous hotelier. Besides this hotel, IHG operates three hotels in Hungary under the Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts brand mentioned above, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, and Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts. Two more hotels are currently under construction and will open in the coming years.
