Rab Island is great for a family vacation with children. There are no water parks, amusement parks or a zoo but there are a large number of natural and architectural attractions. Rab will please active kids, and those children who prefer excursions to everything else, and those who like to lie on the beach the most. There are a lot of tourists here during the high season. Be sure to take your child for a walk through the streets of Rab, the capital of the island. In the Middle Ages, this small town was rebuilt according to the drawings of the famous architect Juraj Dalmatinac, and since then almost nothing has changed here. Here you can see partially preserved fortress walls, the 15th- century houses with immutable geraniums on the windows, the Romanesque bell towers, the 13th- century church of St. Mary. Near the Prince’s Palace, there is the Galtsigna Palace with the Gothic and Renaissance architectural elements and the Palaces of Dominis and Krnota. Both the old St. Justine’s church and the Franciscan monastery of St. Anthony Abbot will please the child. In this city, you can also find the ruins of a former 10th-century Benedictine monastery and its 12th- century bell tower, which was restored in the 20th century. Rab is perfect to raise in a child an interest towards the history and archeology: the medieval town itself is an excellent illustration of how people lived a century ago.

Lopar is also worth visiting. Here you can acquaint the child with the basics of geography and tell him about the dwarf country of San Marino. That same Marin, who founded this small state, was born in Lopar. Here you should show the child the 15th- century Church of St. Mary. It will be interesting to visit the Supetarska Draga village. It is located in a rather picturesque place and has a bell from 1059, the oldest of the Adriatic bells. However, all the settlements of Rab are distinguished by their beauty and their own unique spirit, so it is worth showing your child all of them.

There is more to this island than just observing the architectural sights and swimming. There are sports fields, where your kid can play with other children, and kilometers of footpaths, which both a baby and an adult child will manage. You can all enjoy the beautiful local nature, almost untouched by human hands. Your child might like snorkeling or learning diving, you can go fishing with your child, and compete in who will catch more fish. You can also rent a boat and arrange a real voyage along the coast, visiting secluded bays, or go on a trip to the neighboring islands or to the coast. In a word, there is no time to be bored on Rab with a child.
