A country of rich history, Ukraine carefully keeps and preserves its cultural heritage, and never ceases to attract travelers with its diversity and numerous fascinating landmarks. Nearly every city of Ukraine is interesting and original. Naturally, the majority of places of interest are located in Kiev. The Golden Gate is considered the symbol of the city. Many centuries ago this was the main entrance to Kiev. The gate is decorated with copper and gilding, so the arc looks truly elegant. In the 18th century new buildings were constructed around the gate. The gate lost its original meaning and was, consequently, destroyed. Nowadays the landmark was reconstructed, and the ruins of the original gate can be seen behind the new one.
