In Utrecht there is the oldest religious building in the Netherlands; the first mention of the Cathedral (Domkerk) dates back to the 7th century. The ancient religious building was severely damaged by fire in the mid13th century; hundred years later it became the place to build a new cathedral, which is now called Domkerk. The Cathedral owns its name because of the unusual architectural form; it resembles a tall tower with a scenic facade. The cathedral is 112 meters height; everyone can climb to the special viewpoint and appreciate the panorama of the city.

In the former Augustinian monastery the Centraal Museum is situated. Among its exhibits there are works of art and costumes, as well as other things that introduce the culture of local people. Families with children will be interested in visiting the House of Dick Bruna (Dick Bruna Huis); he was the famous Dutch artist and illustrator. In 1955, he painted Miffy rabbit; today, this fabulous character is familiar to children from different countries. The museum's exhibits list is very extensive and includes a rich collection of sketches, posters, books, covers decorated with works by the artist.
