The Bicaz Gorge which is located in the eastern part of the Carpathian Mountains, connects the provinces Transylvania and Moldova, and is the longest and deepest river in this country. At the bottom of the gorge flows the Bicaz mountain river. Bicyclists – extremist will appreciate the mountain serpentine which stretches for 8 kilometers along the edge of the gorge. The castle, built in 1301, served as the residence of the rulers of Wallachia, whose number was also Vlad III, 'Dracula'.
