Valley of Thousand and One Tales, Turkey

In Turkey, a lot of amazing natural attractions are concentrated in Cappadocia. It is the mountainous region featuring rocky formations of the most incredible shapes and sizes. Here, you can see the huge stone tower with a cap reminiscent of mushrooms, and incredible formations resembling tents. There are several picturesque valleys in Cappadocia. They own romantic names like the Love Valley, the Valley of the Elves, the Rose Valley and the Valley of Thousand and One Nights.
The latter is one of the most interesting and visited. There you can see hundreds of stone tents that are so reminiscent of illustrations for the Oriental fairy tale. The history of the unique landscape is very amazing; it goes back more than 70 million years ago. In those days, the modern district of Cappadocia was completely flooded by lava erupting volcanoes. Later, volcanic rocks cooled and hardened. Still, they were very soft, so easily washed out and eroded.

Top destination around Valley of Thousand and One Tales - Goreme
The Rose Valley is one more popular attraction in the region. If you think that the valley got its name because of a large number of roses, you are mistaken. In fact, the valley got such an interesting name because all natural objects in this area are of a volcanic origin. Sunset is the best time to admire the beauty of this area. Get to the top of Aktepe Hill as this is an excellent natural observation area. It is easy to find this hill because it has a bright red color. The valley has some other attractions including several old churches with beautiful frescos and interesting drawings.
It is possible to get to Goreme from Nevsehir and Kayseri. Both cities have international airports. After your arrival, you need to get on the city bus that goes to the main bus station. The next step is to wait for an intercity bus to Goreme. The ride will be short: approximately 15-20 minutes from Nevsehir and almost half an hour from Kayseri. Without a doubt, it is possible to reach Goreme from other major cities in Turkey, but it will be much longer – almost half a day.
