Castle Woodstock, England

From series “Amazing Ancient Fortresses Preserved to This Day”
Year: 12th century.

The legendary Woodstock Castle is not only an ordinary historical building, but a true historical legend. Today it is the largest residential castle in the world. As early as the twelfth century, the strange love stories had taken place here. The most interesting legend of the castle is associated with the name of King Henry II Plantagenet. After one of the versions he has hidden his secret-loved Rozamunda Clifford for several years in one of the towers before his wife.

Castle Woodstock, England One could only get into the secret-tower through the narrow underground labyrinth. Even such precautionary measures did not help to keep the secret of the king secret. Rozamunda was in the castle. Thousands of visitors to the castle claim that they have seen their ghost wandering through narrow corridors. The spirit of mystery and romance prevails in the beautiful castle nowadays.

The ghost of beauty, living in the castle, is considered a good one, and never frightens the people who come to the castle with good intentions. One of the most incredible cases happened in the castle in the 18th century, when the officials wanted to expropriate the whole property as compensation for the owners' big debts. The ghost of Rozamunda has received them extremely unfriendly. The officials were thrown with the stones and watered by the cold water, whose appearance in the narrow corridors remains unexplained until today. Thus the protector's ghost saved the castle's valuable property. Thanks to the unusual case, the collection of antique objects and works of art can be appreciated today. Next - Edinburgh Castle

At this time, various venues throughout the city (the Holywell Music Room, the OVADA and the Modern Art Oxford art galleries) present temporary exhibitions and music programs.

The end of October is time to attend another great Oxford event - namely, the Oxford Beer Festival, which takes place in the Town Hall. Besides tastings of beer, here you can find a lot of interesting information on its manufacture and become a real expert in choosing a quality drink.
