Another significant historical landmark is the Carfax Tower which is located right in the heart of the city. The tower is the only element of an ancient scale church of the 13th century survived till nowadays. The religious construction lasted till 1820 and then a decision about its demolition was made as the building of the church got time worn and posed a threat to city residents.
Numerous inestimable samples of architecture in Oxford were destroyed and badly ruined during the World War II. The Oxford War Memorial Garden resembles local folks about tense war times. The memorial was established in 1925 and is comprised of several symbolic statuary groups. The garden is crossed with alleys winding among the monuments and statues. The visitors of the place may enjoy a variety of beautiful plants.
