Chateau de Lichtenberg, France

From series “The greatest France castles ”
Year: 13 century.

The defensive castle of Lichtenberg was built in the 13th century. It is named after its first owners, the noble Lichtenberg family. The castle was distinguished by a very beautiful and refined design from the moment of construction. Many unique architectural elements were lost in the 17th century. The army of Louis XIV captured the castle at this time. The castle retained its important strategic importance until the 19th century. It gradually fell into disrepair later.

Chateau de Lichtenberg, France A complete reconstruction took place in the castle only in the 20th century. It was supplemented with new interesting installations in its course. Lichtenberg is a permanent venue for a wide variety of cultural events today. Art exhibitions and theatrical performances are held in the renovated halls. The castle is also used for seminars.

Special educational activities for children of different ages are provided in the cultural center. Therefore, the old castle is a popular place for family holidays. A cafe is open on the castle grounds. There is also an interesting souvenir store here. The famous architect Daniel Speck became one of the main initiators of the modernization of the historical monument. As the expert himself claims, absolutely all modern installations and additions to the fortress structure can be easily dismantled. It is possible to restore the castle to its original medieval appearance in a few days if necessary. Next - Chateau de Chaumont-sur-Loire
