The unique structure that can be seen in the territory of the Academy of the Luftwaffe in the state of Colorado does not look like the building that has a religious purpose. The impressive art nouveau building, built in 1962, is the chapel. Since 2004 the building has been one of the most important national monuments. The chapel construction is incredibly complicated and harmonious. It contains 17 tips, each consisting of 100 regular tetrahedrons.
The width of the two-storey chapel is 26 meters, and the length - 85 meters. The narrow peaks of the chapel reach the height of 46 meters and look incredibly impressive on the background of the clear sky. Investments on the realization of this unusual project were quite large and made about 3.5 million US dollars. The best architects of the USA, led by Walter Netsh, have worked on the development of the chapel project.
The chapel façade is lined with aluplates. The lightweight material has made the construction finer. In addition, the aluplates shine in the sunshine and make several light spots dance on the sunny day. The room design of the chapel is also very interesting. There were several zones for the faithful of different confessions. At the appointed time the chapel is open for visitors. For the tourists the exciting excursions are regularly performed.
