It is worth noting that you can find quite a lot of immigrants from Japan in San Francisco, so it is not surprising that there are a lot of events dedicated to the culture of the Land of the Rising Sun. One of these is the festival, which marks the onset of spring. This is, of course, the colorful event Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival, which usually takes place in mid-April. The fest lasts, as a rule, for a week, during which tourists can see the beautiful procession in traditional Japanese costumes, attend master classes in ikebana (the art of flower arrangement) and calligraphy, and, of course, enjoy the tea ceremony. In addition, you can hear traditional and modern Japanese music, in the area ​​Japantown – the venue of the festival.

Also interesting is a festival dedicated to Japanese pop culture (the so-called “J-Pop”). We are talking about the J-Pop Summit which is held throughout the summer in the area Japantown. Exhibitions devoted to the Japanese culture are held in museums, and shows displaying Japanese street fashion can be seen too. Cosplay sessions and modern pop music concerts that represent the spirit of the Land of the Rising Sun are held in exhibition complexes and concert halls respectively. The framework of the festival includes three more events: Japan Film Festival of San Francisco dedicated to Japanese cinema, Sake Summit during which major producers of sake present their best products, as well as Ramen Summit which involves competitions between the best chefs of Japan in preparing traditional broth and noodles. Participants of the J-Pop Summit are popular media personalities in the Land of the Rising Sun.
