Contemporary Jewish Museum is located in San Francisco. It also has an unofficial name – "L'Chaim“(“to life!”). A large Jewish diaspora has lived in the city for many years. Outstanding writers, artists, and other artists are its representatives. The popular museum is dedicated to their talents and achievements. It has a rich exposition. Its architecture is unique. The fully restored power plant building became the location of the museum. It was built in the early 20th century.

The building has been preserved almost in its original form since its construction. A beautiful crystal-shaped fragment was added to it during the reconstruction period. The building is considered an original example of postmodern architecture today. Its interior design also has a lot of unique features. There is a gorgeous ceiling painting in the central hall of the first tier. A map of Israel is depicted on the ceiling.

There is a permanent exhibition in the museum. Various cultural events are often held in it. Its visitors can see a theater or ballet production. They will also have the opportunity to visit thematic temporary exhibitions. The museum was opened in 1984. The building of the historic power plant was no longer used for its intended purpose during this period. Daniel Libeskind worked on the interior design of the museum. He managed to make the atmosphere of the cultural center very spectacular and modern.

The huge dark blue cube continues to be considered the main architectural feature of the building today. It is made of stainless steel. The power plant building was too small. It could not accommodate all the interesting exhibits. It was decided to add a new building to it. It was also decided to build the original cube to smooth the line between the old and the new building. It has not only decorative but also a functional purpose. Special halls for sound exhibitions with first-class technical equipment are located inside the cubic structure.
