How to spend top weekend in Brussels - ideas on extraordinary attractions and sites

Town Hall in Brussels If it feels like you’ve already seen all notable landmarks and places of interest in Brussels and now want to see something new, it’s high time to explore wondrous hidden sights of the city that only some tourists manage to find. Maison la Bellone is one of these places. This is an amazingly beautiful building in Baroque style, the construction of which was finished in 1967. The full address of this building is Rue de Flandre 46; because of newer buildings, this masterpiece is not well seen during an ordinary walk. Nowadays, the building belongs to a local culture centre and is often used to host various concerts and other important events. However, travellers can admire the beauty of the well-preserved façade and the inner yard free of charge. To do that, simply knock on the door and explain your purpose to a watchman.

There are many amazing cafes and restaurants in the city. Without a doubt, they are a great place to spend a couple of hours and rest, but how about making an after lunch rest in a car salon? Not far away from the city, on Grand Sablon Island, you will find Mercedes House that sells newest car models of the famous brand. That is not the only advantage of that place as there is a wonderful bar in the salon, where visitors are welcome to relax in a calm setting and at the same time enjoy the look of posh cars.
Do you like walking and wish to admire the unforgettable panoramic views of Brussels? If so, then early in the morning you are recommended to head to Place Poelaert. Not everyone knows that the square offers magnificent views of the city. There is a high hill on the square, and if you reach its top, the view will be even more breath-taking. If you are not in the mood of climbing yourself, use the glass elevator that is located not far from the Palace of Justice. Copyright www.orangesmile.com

Do you think you’ve been at all most interesting museums in Brussels? That might be a mistake because most probably you haven’t visited Musee des Egouts or the Museum of Sewers. Travellers are allowed to visit this underground museum only once a week, so it’s better to find out its work schedule in advance. Moreover, travellers must be accompanied by a guide in order to enter. The museum is located on Porte d Anderlecht, namely, below this street, and its exhibition is dedicated to the history of Brussels sewers, one of the oldest sewers in the world.
Brussels One more popular “open air museum” can be found on Place Grand Sablon. This is the antiquity market that works on that square. It is considered the best antiquity market in the country. Here visitors can find really unique items and, what’s more important, to buy them at reasonable prices. Besides antiquity shops, there are shops of famous chocolate masters, charming bars and restaurants at the square, and even a beautiful park for travellers who want to relax in a peaceful place among old trees.

Fans of shopping are recommended to visit one of the most unusual shops in whole Brussels - Western Shop. This is a charming shop located on Bd.Adolphe Street. The shop is made in cowboy style and is decorated with unusual mannequins of Native Americans. The owner usually greets visitors himself, also dressed as a cowboy. The shop sells interesting souvenirs dedicated to Wild West and exhibits some very interesting items like old black and white photos and other antiques. By the way, the owner allows customers making photos with the mannequins and sculptures installed in the trading pavilion.
