St Basil Cathedral, Russia When Kazan was conquered Ivan the Terrible turned back to Moscow and ordered to start the building of a new stone church at the place of the old Trinity church. There was used the red brick, which until the middle of the 16th century, was a new building material. The Cathedral of Vasily the Blessed has a number of unique peculiarities.
