The main feature of the construction is that it’s supported by 20 pairs of concrete supports narrowing to the foundation, which makes it look very fragile. In fact, the building is very firm and solid. It’s surrounded by nice alleys and footpaths. The unusual construction serves an important purpose: the arches create a kind of a window under the house, which ventilates the air naturally and prevents exhaust emissions from the surrounding streets collecting here.
Tourists can also admire typical Saint Petersburg views in Moscow. A real Petrovsky Yard can be found on Admiral Lazarev Street, near house 50. In 2009, the original yard of an ordinary Moscow dwelling house was called the best in the city. It’s decorated with miniature copies of Saint Petersburg’s famous historic monuments.
