From series “Best industrial-style loft hotels”
Year: 2011.

Hacienda San Antonio El Puente Hotel is a real historical landmark in the Mexican city Cuernavaca. It was opened in the old building of the sugar cane processing plant. The Spanish conquistadors were the founders of this plant. It was built more than 500 years ago. The beautifully preserved building is a unique monument of colonial architecture today. It impresses with its impressive scale. More than 200 people worked at this plant in the past. Many of them lived right on its territory.

Hacienda San Antonio del Puente Hotel, Mexico Once a major accident happened at the factory. One of its furnaces exploded. The building required a lengthy and complex reconstruction after that. The owners of the plant almost managed to complete it. But the political coup that took place in the country prevented them. The Spanish owners of the plant had to return to their historical homeland because of this coup. The huge building had been in disrepair for more than a hundred years. Many of its buildings were almost completely hidden in the thickets of tropical vegetation.

The historic building was converted into a luxury hotel in 2011. The pool is equipped for guests at the site of the exploded workshop today. A Mexican restaurant is located next to it. The hotel is decorated in the best traditions of the colonial style. Preserved old arcades give a special charm to the industrial building. A lush garden surrounds the hotel. You can admire the ancient fountains and sculptures while walking through it. Guests can enjoy sunbathing and water treatments on its territory during the summer. To the beginning - Andels Hotel

The Palace of Cortés is one more attraction in Cuernavaca that definitely deserves the attention of tourists. In 1526, Hernan Cortes ordered his people to build a castle. He settled down in that castle and made it his residence. Cortes spent many years in the castle together with his wife who was the second wife of the famous conquistador. The heir of Hernan Cortes, Martin, was also born in this palace. In the 18th century, the building was transformed into a prison and army barracks.

It was decided to restore the Palace of Cortes only at the end of the 19th century. This restoration brought a new tower to the palace complex. The cylindrical tower is 15 meters tall. It was added to the north-western part of the building. Starting from the 70s of the 20th century, the building has been home to a museum - El Museo Regional Cuauhnáhuac. This is the right place to visit for everyone who wants to learn more about the history of the region starting from its formation and until modern times.
