Here is the legendary castle Dunnottar that has served as the prototype of the fairytale castle. It is one of the prominent historical monuments of Scotland. The first mention of the fortress dates back to the 7th century. The building is located on a cliff top.

Eleven buildings of the fortress survived to these days; the oldest among them dates back to the 13th century. According to another legend, the castle is inhabited by a mysterious ghost of the Green Lady, which can occasionally be found in its corridors. Fans of Hamlet movie will find it interesting to visit the amazing historic landmark, as some scenes were shot in Dunnottar. The castle is surrounded by picturesque scenery.
