It is definitely worth visiting the Dean Cemetery. It not only has an incredibly quiet atmosphere but what is more interesting, some famous people of Scotland are buried here. Nearby is situated Dean Village, a place also famous for its pacifying and serene atmosphere. These are excellent places for conducting leisurely hiking, away from the bustling city. There is as well as the Dean Private Gardens, on whose territory is situated many interesting sights, among them; beautiful gazebos, bridges, ponds. Another cemetery – Greyfriars Kirkyard – has the world-famous monument to the dog Bobby as its main feature. It is a kind of monument of devotion and friendship.
Movie fans will be pleasantly surprised to learn that in the hometown of Sean Connery, they can discover places from favorite films and soap operas – for example, the hills around Edinburgh, Spoon Café Bistro, Potterrow Port, and Advocates Close – these are just a small part of the sites related to the saga about the wizard. Also, upon seeing Doune Castle (where only nearby the fierce battles for the independence of Scotland under the leadership of William Wallace were held), you can immediately recognize the outlines of Winterfell from the movie series “Game of Thrones”. Moving on, fans of the “Da Vinci Code” will be happy to visit Rosslyn Chapel, as some episodes were shot here. Midhope Castle is a place that is definitely worth visiting for fans of the series “Highlander”.
