Travel Guide to Varna, Bulgaria

Varna is the largest center of theatrical and architectural art of the country. This is also one of the most popular Bulgarian resorts, which is traditionally liked by travellers from all over the world.

The center is of the city is marked with the Square of Independence. This is a huge pedestrian zone. There is no transport here and so nothing breaks the calm and measured atmosphere of this place. On the square are located 2 large cultural centers – the Varna Dramatic Theatre and the Opera Theatre. Between them is located a small market that will be surely interesting for guests of this wonderful city. Here you can find different types of goods, hand-made jewelry, wonderful pictures, souvenirs and wooden stuff.

The neighboring square is named after Cyril and Methodius. Dormition Cathedral is also located here. The building of the cathedral finished in the end of the 19th century. Each Sunday here take place liturgies in which participates the most famous male choir in Bulgaria.

The ruins of Roman baths are, without a doubt, a great historical place of interest. If you seek solitude, you can enjoy beautiful nature in Seaside Park. This park is 80 hectares big, and on its territory you will find the Culture and Sport Palace, the Planetarium, and the zoo that organizes dolphin performances.

Each day tourists are invited to attend excursions to Varna Lake, which shores still keep the ruins of the ancient basilica. Architectural excavations don’t stop in this region and you can see the unique artifacts found here if you visit the Archeological Museum of Varna that exhibits collection of gold and silver goods, sculptures and gravestones.

The resort works all year long. Nowadays here have appeared modern balneological centers that attract even more tourists to this wonderful city.
