Several admirable buildings can be seen in the Japanese park Asuka. Here the huge megaliths have been resting for several centuries, the exact purpose of which remains unclear and puzzling to this day. According to the main version of the researchers, the giant megaliths with the patterns carved on the surface served as ancient sacrificial altars. One of the most interesting megaliths is Sakafune Ishi. On its surface, one has discovered the strange clinging tracks that the researchers have brought to the version on the sacred purpose of the stones.
One of the largest megaliths in the park is Masuda Iwafune, whose length is 11 meters, width - 8 meters, and the height - 4.7 meters. This huge stone, apparently carved out of the whole granite piece, weighs at least 7 tons. The age of the monolith is more than 2.5 thousand years. Another remarkable fact is that the granite rock from which the megaliths were created is incredibly solid. Even with modern equipment, it is extremely complicated to apply a scratch to the surface.
In what way the people worked the solid granite several thousand years ago, decorating it with patterns, is the riddle for the modern science. Locals believe in the magical power of megaliths. Many try to avoid them and do not touch the huge stones. These legends do not frighten the curious tourists, who are photographed next to the huge granite stones every day.
