Nara Dreamland, Japan

From series “Deserted Places Causing the Feeling of Chill”
Year: 1961.

In Japan, there is an abandoned Nara Dreamland amusement park, which may also scare many tourists. The opening of the park took place in 1961. It has worked for a little over 30 years and was closed due to lack of funding. A walk in the park gives an impression that it went deserted overnight. All its rides have perfectly preserved after decades. You can find slot machines with toys and a lot of other equipment in old abandoned buildings.

Nara Dreamland, Japan The design of the amusement park is very similar to the California Disneyland. Today, some elements of its scenery look particularly daunting. During the years of desolation, the park destroyed slowly. Trees sprout in many of buildings, and attractions are covered with twine plants and grass. The park is characterized by a huge area. From the day of closing, entrance to the territory is completely prohibited.

The park is enclosed by a high fence with barbed wire. It is guarded by the police round the clock. Those of the few enthusiasts who still manage to go to the abandoned park have to note that it is guarded carefully. Police officers are not limited to only fining those who entered the forbidden territory. They could use firearms without warning. What caused such a behavior of police is unknown. People with weak mentality aren't recommended to walk close to the park on a windy day, as old rides in the wind emit a truly frightening rattle. Next - Michigan Central Station
