Natural History Museum, England

From series “Gothic Architecture – Magnificent Monuments”
Year: 1881.

London's Natural History Museum is of interest to travelers not only for its priceless exhibits but also for its unique architecture. Dr. Hans Sloane is considered the founder of the museum. He managed to collect a very interesting collection with a herbarium, as well as skeletons of rare animals in the first half of the 18th century. The museum's collection became very large in the mid-19th century. It was decided to build a new building for its presentation.

Natural History Museum, England Renowned architect Francis Fowke worked on the building's design. The museum's collection was moved to a new, fully equipped building in 1881. The luxurious building is surrounded by a lush garden today. It is a favorite holiday destination for citizens and tourists in the warm season. More than 70 million exhibits are collected in the museum. They were brought from different parts of the world. Skeletons of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals are of particular value. A huge collection of minerals and fossils is also kept in the museum.

A spacious central hall welcomes visitors outside the museum's entrance doors. The decoration of previous years has been preserved as much as possible in it. One of the most valuable exhibits of the museum is located in this spacious room with a high ceiling and huge Gothic windows. This is the skeleton of a Diplodocus. The museum has an incredibly beautiful design. Fragments of the original wall decoration were preserved in many of its halls. This makes the environment even more unique. Some of the museum's modern exhibits are interactive today. The exhibition is updated with new amazing finds every year. Next - Antwerp Cathedral
