Smederevo Fortress is located in the city of the same name. It is located in an incredibly beautiful area on the banks of the great Danube River. The construction of the defensive structure took place in the first half of the 15th century. The city of Smederevo has formed around the fortress afterward. The fortress is a monumental complex of impressive dimensions. It is built in the shape of an irregular triangle.

A strong wall surrounds the fortress. Its thickness is more than 2 meters. There are 25 towers in its structure. The length of the defensive wall is more than 1.5 kilometers. The total area of Smederevo Fortress is about 11 hectares. This makes it one of the largest medieval fortresses in Europe. The medieval building was badly damaged during the Second World War. Locals began to restore the historical monument immediately after its end.

The ancient fortress has been transformed into a place of public recreation in recent decades. This area is more like a landscaped park today. There are several interesting historical buildings on its territory. Their active recovery continues even today. There are beautiful recreation areas with benches here. Convenient paths for walking and roller skating are laid on the territory of the fortress. There are also various sports fields and picnic areas here. Walking along the fortress wall remains one of the favorite activities for visitors to the park. A wonderful view of the Danube river and the surrounding area opens from it. Visitors can take a lot of spectacular photos.
