Saint-Petersburg has several adorable embankments. One of the most outstanding is Oktyabrskaya Embankment, the most symbolic city's embankment. It begins from Zolnaua Street in the Nevsky district and larges for 9 kilometers forward. Along the embankment there is the major highway. For pedestrians there was made a specially closed sidewalk. The Oktyabrskaya Embankment is the largest in the city. The first part of it was built in 1932.
The embankment has such name from 1973, earlier it was called the Embankment of the right shore of Neva river. The main landmark that you will see during the walk is the Finnish Railway bridge, the historical monument of the state significance. Near the embankment there is a wonderful Holy Trinity Church. The last large reconstruction was in the middle of the 19th century. Since that time the saint monument did not change its view.
Also you will see the buildings where at the end of the 19th-century were placed the huge plants, more than that, the houses of major industrials were saved at the embankment. One of the most outstanding architectural buildings is the summerhouse of Alexander Chernov that was built in 1893. The summerhouse is situated next to the picturesque park "Sosnovka". This park is also the historical place. If you want to see all landmarks and walk along the whole embankment, you have to spend there more than one day.
