1. Interurban train is the optimum way for tourists to get from Lucerne to any neighboring town and city. Tourists who are not constrained in time should not limit their exploration only with the city area but should set off to Interlaken, Lugano, Zurich and Geneva.
2. The city center can be cruised only on foot as it is totally placed in service of pedestrians. The public transport of the city is presented with branched network of buses which are cruising the streets of the city from the earliest morning till the 8 -9 pm.
3. Tourists wishing to use the public transport for cruising the city and visiting the tours, should better buy a pass ticket Swiss Pass. It gives the right of free rides in public transport and discounts for tours visiting. The pass is available for purchase in tourist information center or in some hotels.
4. Bicycle is one of the most popular city transports. The main rental center of two wheel transportation means is placed in the area of railway station. Along all the major roads of the city one will find specialized cycling lanes that make the transportation even safer and more comfortable.
6. Local shops are open from 9 am and work till 7-8 pm, the upscale shopping centers are open till 21.00. Saturday is considered to be a shortened working day. Only upscale supermarkets and shopping malls are open on Sundays.
7. In local restaurants and cafes tipping is welcome. The tips should equal 10% of the total order sum or more. In upscale gastronomy establishments the serviced fee is included in the bill, however even in this case the total sum is commonly added with some cash reward.
