Culture of Bansko. Places to visit - old town, temples, theaters, museums and palaces

Bansko is really small. However, there are several dozens of interesting attractions in its territory. The <> in the center of the town is one of the most recognizable and popular among them. A carved wooden iconostasis, which was installed immediately after the opening, remains the main decoration of the church.

The city’s belfry a very symbolic and unusual historical monument that is located in the courtyard of the Holy Trinity Church. Built in the 18th century, it has become a monument of the national importance. A lovely villa converted into a museum exhibits a rich collection of antique furniture, art objects, and personal belongings of the former owners. The House - museum of Nikola Vaptsarov is a symbolic attraction. That is the exact place where the great Bulgarian poet lived at the beginning of the 20th century. The last large-scale reconstruction of the museum took place in 1992. Nowadays, it is a regular venue for various cultural events, including interesting film screenings and literary meetups.

The historical district of Staroto Gradishte is located close to Bansko outskirts. That is the place where visitors will be able to explore the ruins of ancient fortresses and fortification walls. The Pirin National Park is the main natural landmark of the region, and more than 30% of the park’s territory is within official Bansko borders. It is a real treasure full of unique natural attractions. The highest peak of Pirin Mountains – Vihren - is also located there. The height of the mount is 2 914 meters. Nearby, there are no less interesting landmarks, namely Kazan and Bynderitsata caves that are the deepest in the country.
