The lowland Turfan, which is located in China, has the depth of 154 meters. It is only the average value. Despite the dry and hot climate of the region, the salt lake Aidinkol forms on the bottom of the lowland. The amount of free land in the country depends on the water level in the lake. Turfan Kesselbruch is the deepest place on the territory of East Asia. In the northern part of the lowland is the tiny oasis city - Turpan (Turfan).
During one of the archaeological researches, the archaeologists discovered the unique artefacts - the sarcophagi, whose age is more than a thousand years. It suggests that people settled in this area in the 10th century. The tourists who visit this area have a chance to see the interesting sight of natural origin - the ancient active volcano whose last eruption occurred in the 12th century. It can not be excluded that the high activity of this volcano has contributed thousands of years ago to the formation of the lowland.
Turfan district is one of the hottest and thirstiest in China. In summer the air temperature in this area can reach 40 degrees. The lowland is surrounded by the beautiful mountains called 'the flaming mountains' because of the original color. The tourists, who want to visit the bottom of one of the deepest lowlands of the earth, can go to the southern district of the Talkessel. Here is the deepest place and Aidinkol Lake, which in summer always dries up.
