The beautiful Angers Castle is one of the largest in France. Its total area is about 25,000 square meters. The very first fortification was built in its place in the 3rd century. Chateau d Angers, France Count Geoffrey II built the very first stone castle on the site of a wooden fortress in the early 11th century. One of the largest reformations in the history of the castle took place under the rule of Catherine de' Medici in the 16th century. The castle has been on full alert all these years. It served as a refuge for the Polish government in 1939. The Polish government sought shelter from German troops. The fortress was occupied by German troops a year later. Its height is 5.5 meters. It took the masters more than five years to create such a huge tapestry. In addition to its unique architecture and historical values, Angers Castle can also rightfully be proud of the landscaped garden surrounding it.
