One of the most recognizable religious monuments in Houston is the Rothko Chapel that started to be projected in 1964. The chapel was built completely in 1971. Since its opening, it has had a status of an outstanding cultural center. Here, different cultural events, lectures and meetings concerning various modern cultural spheres are held. In 2000, the chapel was restored. Now, art exhibitions and music concerts are organized in it.
Another interesting architectural monument is the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens. This mansion was built in 1928. Its first owners were the Hogg Brothers. They were famous collectors and kept its precious collections of historical artifacts in the mansion. In the first half of the 20th century, about 4 700 historical artifacts and pieces of art were presented in the mansion. In 1957, the brothers gave their collection to the local Art Museum. For the first time, the museum welcomed guests in 1966. The main attribute of the excursion is strolling along the garden surrounding the museum. It is very big and cherishes historical decorative elements.
