Detroit is the Rock City, as is clear from the famous movie and KISS song. The city yet again confirmed its nickname by giving birth to two popular and significant personalities in the hard genre - Suzi Quatro and Alice Cooper. Detroit is also forever associated with the automotive industry: Ford, Chrysler, General Motors - these are all the companies that brought glory to the city and made it the "automobile capital of the United States". Abandoned buildings give Detroit a certain romance. Their largest number is concentrated in Midtown, so it's worth visiting if you're a fan of this kind of places. At the same time, there are less and less abandoned buildings every year.
The locals are good talkers, they are ready to talk about anything without much effort. Here it's not customary to criticize anyone's appearance, and everyone does what he/she wants at the moment. You can always ask the locals for help - they'll never fail to provide it. The local people are known for their generosity and relaxed attitude to life. Another distinctive feature is that they treat problems in a special way, without attaching much importance to petty quarrels and troubles.
The North American dialect prevails here, so there shouldn't be problems with understanding citizens. Local cuisine is distinguished by simplicity and nutritiousness. The main products are fish, meat, potatoes, and vegetables.
