Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is considered to be the busiest one among such air terminals. Its passenger traffic amounts to 105 million people per year. More than half of the flights performed are domestic. The airport was established in 1925, on the place where the motor-vehicle proving ground had used to be located. The airport got its current name after the mayors of the city of Atlanta, Maynard Jackson and William B. Hartsfield, who had made great contributions to the development of air transport and modernization of the airport. It is situated close to the centre of Atlanta, only 15 km from it. The terminals of the airport are connected by the underground train system (SkyTrain)as well as by passages with travelators. The Domestic Terminal is divided into Terminal South, Terminal North (they form a single building of domestic flights) and Concourses T, A, B, C, D, E, and F.
