The city is also home to several ancient palaces, the most famous of which is the Royal Castle. The main building of the palace was built in 1618. During the long history of the palace its territory has expanded greatly and so new wings and outbuildings appeared there. All visitors are welcome to walk through most beautiful rooms of the palace, each of which has its own luxurious design. High painted ceilings, frescoes and colorful stained glass windows decorate spacious rooms of the palace. Without a doubt, the Throne Room is the most beautiful place of the palace. A part of the castle’s premises were converted into Art Museum. This museum exhibits a collection of paintings by Matejko, Bellotto, and Rembrandt.
Castle Square is located just in front of the palace. The square has long become a permanent venue for major public events and celebrations. Among other architectural monuments of Warsaw which are worth visiting we can definitely recommend Vilyanuvsky Palace, Ujazdowski Castle, Ostrog Castle and Branitsky palace with its beautiful centuries-old garden.
