Of course there is still a large quantity of dull and clumsy constructions created by the Soviet-era designers. Nevertheless this city has an interesting history and great cultural heritage. It has a vivid nightlife which grows year to year. It is amazing how Warsaw managed to survive through all it's challenges and finally became one of the capitals of the European Union. In 1940-s after the WWII was over, the population of the city was gone – some were captured by Fascists and sent to the camps, others were killed. Many Warsaw inhabitants before the WWII were the Jews, they made 1/3 of the population. There are not that many Jewish people in Warsaw any longer – they were mostly eliminated during the WWII.
